BORE (Beaufort Sea Ocean Response Extremes) is an Oceanweather Joint Industry Project (JIP) originally launched in October 2004 for a complete specification of metocean design data for offshore and nearshore facilities for new developments planned in the U.S. sector of the Beaufort Sea.  The specifications include extreme wind, wave, current and water level (storm surge) criteria.

UNIWAVE was applied in this study in a coupled tri-nest mode to address so-called GLOBAL, BASIN and REGIONAL spatial scales.  The global scale is included by referring to OWI's pre-computed GROW2000 product, which provides boundary conditions in the form of time series of directional spectra at the western boundary of the BASIN scale model in the Bering Sea.
